Blogging Australian Sociology
Sociology Goes Troppo in the TropicsHi folks. My name's Mark Bahnisch from Brisbane (aka Brisvegas), Australia. I've just discovered this community - in fact I wrote about it on my
blog.
I'm in the final stages of preparing my PhD dissertation for submission at the end of January (aaarrrrggghhh). The thesis looks at the trope of the end of history and attempts to develop a phenomenological sociology of the political. I've taught Sociology and Politics for the last eight years, including a couple of contract gigs as a Lecturer at The University of Queensland.
Other research interests include deviance, the body, organisational sociology and subcultures.
The reason for writing was partly to say hello, and partly to draw your attention to the group blog of which I'm a member -
Troppo Armadillo. You're most welcome to come and have a look. We've been recognised as one of the
leading Australian political blogs, and have collected a number of nominations in various categories in the
Australian Blog Awards... So you're most welcome to drop in for a read of a blog where several sociologists post, and where sociological commenters are always welcome.
